System Wide Analysis

These tools examine system-wide analysis in the context of system software or hardware resources, using kernel counters:

  1. vmstat - virtual and physical memory statistics
  2. mpstat - per-cpu usage
  3. iostat - Per-disk I/O usage, reported from the block device interface
  4. nstat - TCP/IP stack statistics
  5. sar - various statistics; can also archive them for historical reporting
